Digital environment: the mobile application “My City” turned three years

In February, the mobile application “My City” turned three years. During this time, the initiative implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization together with RUE Beltelecom has gained great popularity. Today, the resource is used by the population of 45 Belarusian cities, including two regional centers - Mogilev and Vitebsk, another 18 cities are preparing for launch.

The Minister of Communications and Informatization Konstantin Shulgan,

The application “My City” is a large-scale creative project that demonstrated how digital technologies can improve the quality of life of our citizens by making the urban environment more accessible. The mobile resource has become a practical tool for interaction between local residents, local authorities and urban services. I am pleased at how the application is developing in our country, I am glad to see new cities and new active users. “My City” is a model for other projects in the field of digitalization of urban infrastructure.

The mobile application with a simple and understandable interface has digitized the entire city ecosystem: government organizations, healthcare and educational institutions, cultural, trade, leisure facilities and others provide their services. Here you can find reference information, events, news, promotions, and contacts. However, the application is not an analogue of a website; its peculiarity is the possibility of interactive communication. Citizens can arrange an appointment with the executive committee and other government institutions, ask questions and get answers, buy goods online, make an appointment at a clinic, or enroll a child in a sports section.

An individual application with unique data is created for each city. Its functionality also allows to leave feedback and suggestions, which helps improve the quality of services and increase the level of communication between citizens and authorities.

The pilot project started in 2021 in Polotsk. Today, the leaders are the Vitebsk region, where 14 cities are already operating, 10 cities are preparing for the launch. In terms of the number of downloads, the championship belongs to Polotsk, where the application was installed by more than 20 thousand users.

Over the three years of work, the idea of digital communication has elicited a great positive response: 100 thousand downloads, 1 million views of services, almost 80 thousand online orders. The most active are the residents of Polotsk, Rechitsa, Bobruisk, Mozyr and Zhodino.

According to statistics, the most popular among users were online services of city administrations, schools, kindergartens and sports facilities, service sector and tourism. Pre-booking services were also in demand. Thus, the entire infrastructure - at hand; you just need to install the application on your smartphone.

The initiative was developed within the framework of the State Program “Digital Development of Belarus” and is aimed at improving the comfort and quality of life of citizens. The application “My City (Belarus)” is available for download on Android and iOS.
